Creating shared mode projects

Creating a new project sets the locations of the public and private folders. The public folder contains common and shared external files (GRIDS, IMAGES, OVERLAY, etc.) while the private folder contains user-created files (like WSN lists, import templates, or settings files) that customize Petra’s appearance and behavior.  Private folders should be separated both by user and by project.

When creating a new project the following items need to be set:

  • Project name
  • Description
  • Location of public and private directories
  • Database server
To create a new shared project:
  1. Click the button  at the upper left corner of the Main Module toolbar.
  2. Select the Create a New Project option.
  3. Enter a name and description for the project
  4. Select the database server for the project.
  5. Select the project folder (also known as the public database path).
  6. Set the destination of the personal parameters folder.
  7. Review the settings, and select the Finish button to create the new project.
