Minimum Curvature

The course is calculated between two points from tangent vectors at the two points. This is similar to the Balanced Angle method, but this method adds a correction factor. The correction factor treats the junction of the two linear segments as an arc instead of a dogleg. Minimum Curvature is expressed using the following formula (from SPE 2262 Taylor, et al “A Systematic Approach to Well Surveying Calculations” Society of Petroleum Engineers, Richardson Texas 1971):
