Buffer Layer Display Settings
You can create a buffer layer around lines or polygons on the Spatial Explorer map and change the display properties for this layer. The properties you can modify include the distance of the buffer layer from the original line or polygon in feet or meters, whether to place the buffer layer inside or outside the polygon, and the line color, line size, and line style of the buffer layer edges as well as the fill color of the buffer layer. Spatial Explorer also gives you the option to display the buffer area only (the buffer area is the area between the polygon and the edge of the buffer layer).

- Click
next to the buffer layer name in the Layers list.
- Click Display Settings.
- Specify the distance of the buffer layer from the line(s) or polygon(s) in feet or meters.
- If you want to create the buffer layer inside the polygon(s) rather than outside, select the option Calculate polygons inner buffer. This option is not available for lines.
- If you want to display only the buffer area only, and not the entire buffer layer, select Display polygons buffer area only. This option is not available for lines.
- Define the line color, line thickness, and line style for the buffer layer border and the fill color for the buffer layer.
- Click OK.
