Thematic Map tab
Use the Thematic Map tab to display one or more borehole attributes on the Spatial Explorer map as a bubble, pie chart, or donut around the well symbol. In thematic maps, the bubble, pie chart, or donut indicates the presence of a selected attribute.
Bubble Settings pane
Display settings include the following:
- Fixed Radius — you can choose between a specific size in inches / cm (for a printed map), or map units (scale used to measure distance on the map).
- Opacity — you can set this between 0 and 100.
- Draw Donut — draws a donut (has a transparent center) around the well symbol.
- Drop Missing Attributes — shows only those populated attributes (it is a complete circle as long as at least one attribute is there).
- Draw Outline — draws an outline for a complete bubble, pie chart, or donut (this option is useful for wells that do not have all the selected attributes).
- Show Count in Legend — shows the number of wells with the selected attribute in the map legend.
- Visibility — shows / hides the display of the thematic maps.
Defining color and value range
You can define different colors for each attribute.
(Kingdom only) You can define a range of values for the selected attribute if it has attribute values within that range. You can also invert this range (by selecting NOT) to show the presence of the selected attribute only if values are outside the range you define. A histogram is available to help you select meaningful value ranges.
Selecting thematic map display settings
Follow these steps to define well attribute display settings on the map.
- Select the data type you want to display in the thematic map from the Data Types list. Depending on the data type you select, you may need to select additional options.
- Click the Add arrow to add your selection to the Selected Data pane.
- Select a color to use for displaying the attribute on the map in the Color field.
- If needed, define a range of attribute values you want to include for display on the map, or invert this defined range by selecting Not. You can display the available histogram to help you select the correct range of data values.
- Choose the size of the pie chart you want to display on the map, either in inches or in map units.
- Complete the remaining options as needed.
- To preview your selections, click Apply, or click OK to accept your selections and close the Display Properties window.
