General Display Settings
For general display settings for data attributes, you can define point and line color, point size, line thickness and style, and polygon fill color and opacity. You can define these properties for all attributes at once or separately for each attribute. If you choose to define each attribute separately, Spatial Explorer provides a color range for each data item or class that you can then customize as needed.
You can also specify a start and end color for lines and polygon fills, and Spatial Explorer interpolates a color gradient between the two colors for each data item or class. You can also customize the appearance of individual items or classes after you define the start and end colors.
To further refine the visual representation of your data, in many cases you can adjust the class size for the range of data values to show more or less detail. For more information about changing class size, see Adjusting Class Size and Opacity.
To find out how to change labeling for data attributes on a data layer, see Label Display Settings.
Displaying data by two attributes
In some cases (for example, well data) you can display two data attributes on the Spatial Explorer map rather than just one. You can display one data attribute by point color and one attribute by point size. For example, you can display cumulative oil by well point size and total depth by well point color.
Changing display settings

- In the Layers list, hover the mouse pointer of the layer you want to modify, then click
next to the layer name.
- Click Display Settings.
- Choose whether to apply your changes to all attributes or to individual attributes:
- To apply the same changes to all attributes, keep the default To All selection.
- To apply different changes to different attributes, select By Attribute so you can then change display properties for each individual attribute.
- Depending on the type of data, select the point, line, or fill color, fill color opacity, the point size or line thickness, the line style, and lithology pattern, pattern size, and color.
- If you are defining settings for individual attributes, you can define a start and end color for points, lines, and fills, as well as a start and end size for points.
- If needed, you can also change display properties for individual data values or classes.
- When you are finished setting your display options, click OK.
