Saving Layout Templates
If you create a map layout you want to use more than once, you can save it as a template for later use. To save a layout, click .
You can save the following items on the AOI Print View tab for each project:
- Title blocks
- North arrows
- Scale bars
- Legends
- XY and Lat/Long coordinates
- Text blocks, arrows, lines, and shapes
The following table explains how the template saves the different elements of each layout.
Item | What is saved |
---|---|
Page |
Page size and orientation. |
Map |
Location on the page only, based on the upper left corner of the map. |
North Arrow |
Type, size, and location on the page. |
Title block |
Type, size, and location on the page. The template also includes anything saved with the title block (company name, logo, and title block size). |
Scale bar |
Length, type, and location on the page. |
Legends |
Acts as a placeholder only and saves the location on the page, but not the specific legend. If you apply a template with a legend placeholder to a map that has a legend, the legend is positioned according to the placeholder location in the template. |
XY or Lat/Long Coordinates |
Not saved with the template. If you apply a template to a map that has XY and/or Lat/Long coordinates marked, these remain on the map. |
Text boxes, shapes, lines, and arrows |
Not saved with the template. If you apply a template to a map that has these items, they remain on the map. |
You can apply a template to any underlying map area that you select on the Map View tab.
