Spatial Queries and Well Queries (Kingdom only)
You can select and digitize on a layer containing polygons (for example, lease blocks), and then query to select all the data within the bounds of the selected polygons to create either a static subset of wells or a spatial query. If you are selecting well data, you can save either a well query (static subset) or a spatial query. If you are selecting data other than well data, you can only create a spatial query.
Unlike a static well subset, spatial queries are based on the bounds of the polygons used to create the query and are dynamic in nature. You can rerun the spatial query and update the query results.

-
Select the data layer with the polygons you want to use for data selection in the Layers list and click
. You also need at least one visible data layer containing well data.
- Choose the selection tool you want to use from the map toolbar and select the polygon(s) you want to use to select well data. When digitizing a polygon, you must double-click the last point on the polygon to complete the selection.
- The Details Panel opens with the selected data displayed.
- Select Well Query from the Save as list and then click Next. The Spatial Query window opens.
- In the Select Layer to Query list, select the data layer containing the well data you want to query, and then click Apply.
- Click Save well subset, and then type the name of the subset in the Subset Name field.
- Click Done. The subset is now available in the list of subsets in Spatial Explorer, Well Explorer, and Kingdom.

Updating spatial query results
Once you create a spatial query (see the preceding steps), you can re-run the query later to obtain updated results.

- On the map view toolbar, click
. The Spatial Query window opens.
- From the Spatial Subsets list, click the spatial query you want to use.
- In the Select Layer to Query list, select the data layer you want to query, then click Apply.
- If you want to save the updated query results, click Save well query. This creates a static subset of wells.
