Understanding The AOI Print View Window
The AOI Print View window consists of two panes, each with its own toolbar. The left pane is where you select the different items you want to display on the map. To add an item, drag and drop it from the left pane onto the map. You can position and size each item to suit your needs. The table below provides a brief description of the items you can display on the map.
Item | Description |
---|---|
Title Blocks
|
There are four default title block formats to choose from, and you can also create and save custom title blocks for later re-use. Every title block contains a scale value, which changes depending on the size of the underlying map. |
North Arrows
|
Choose from a variety of North arrows to place on the map. |
Scales
|
There are numerous scale formats to choose from. The scale values depend on the size of the underlying map, as well as the size of the scale bar. The scale value adjusts if you resize the map or the scale bar. |
Legends
|
The list of legends you can add to the map depends on what data source layers you have available on in the Layers list on the Map View tab. |
XY and Lat/Long Coordinates
|
You can display grid labels and/or tick marks at a specified interval as XY or Lat/Long coordinates. You can also specify the color and size of the labels and tick marks. |
Text boxes, lines, shapes, and arrows
|
You can add text boxes to the map and format the font, font size, color, and text attributes (bold, italic, underline). You can also add lines, arrows, and shapes (rectangles and ellipses) and format line color, line thickness, line style, and fill color. |
The right pane of the AOI print view is where you create your map layout. The toolbar in the right pane is where you define page size and orientation, zoom level, save layout templates, and export the layout to .pdf or image (.jpg, .png, .bmp) files. The numbers above the toolbar shown below correspond to the same numbers in the table that follows. The table explains each numbered item or group of items.
